Optimum Health & Peak Performance

My name is Allen Fisher.  Having been in the professional athlete for the over 30 years and having over 26 World Championships and many International and National titles since December of 1980, I was interested to know what was necessary for peak performance.

Many remember me as an avid vitamin consumer.   For most of my Arm Wrestling career, I consumed and endorsed what were considered to be the best supplements an athlete could obtain.

Research led me to discover that so-called "natural vitamins" are isolated from those other vital nutrients that are only found in food.  So those whose take them are getting just a fragment on what they need.  And often these "vitamins" are synthetic.  There are numerous medical case studies proving vitamins can actually do more harm than good.  Medical research shows that,  when these are used only a small portion of the nutrients are utilized, but most of the nutrients are eliminated from the body.  I could see that vitamins could never restore the nutrients I burn as an athlete.

Leading Health Authorities like the National Institutes of Health, The American Heart Association, National Cancer Institute and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, just to name a few, agree with the medical research that getting nutrients from whole food sources - real fruits and vegetables - is much better than a supplemental diet with isolated vitamins.

Medical Studies recommend that we eat at least 5-9 servings of raw fruits and vegetables everyday.  The research now shows that more is better.  Many Health Institutions are say 9 to 13 everyday.  These whole foods contain antioxidants and plant nutrients that can help prevent the harmful effects of free radicals and enhance overall good health.

Lights, camera, action:  The media also seems to have caught on. You can hardly pick up a newspaper, magazine or watch TV without seeing or hearing something about the benefits of fruits and vegetables.

The problem,  There was no way I was going to follow those recommendations, especially since I didn't like most of the vegetables in the first place.  If you're part of the majority you're not eating 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday either.  For what ever reason, whether we find vegetables too expensive, too much hassle or just don't like the taste of steamed broccoli, we have to admit, most of us just don't get enough.  Especially our children.
